Shirodhara – Pouring of oil on the forehead

Pouring of oil on the forehead (Shirodhara)

£75 (1hour) OR £50 when booking 7 consecutive treatments (45mins). Cost of oil is extra

Shirodhara is a great rejuvenation treatment. The word shiro means head while dhara means a constant flow. This treatment uses the constant flow of a slightly warmed herbal oil on the forehead poured from a pot that is 8-12 inches above the head, moving at times from side to side while other times still above. This oil flows continuously which then runs through the hair and scalp till it drops into another container sitting on the floor. This treatment is given for 30 to 45 minutes for 7 to 14 days, dependent on condition. The treatment finishes with a Head and neck massage.

This is a great Ayurvedic treatment that helps to calm the nerves, regulate imbalances especially in Vata, release deep seated emotions and cleanse the mind. It primarily works on the Manomaya kosha or the mental sheath so can also be used as a tool for those in quest of higher states of consciousness.

Several research studies show Shirodhara to help treat stress, anxiety, concentration levels, insomnia, migranes and headaches along with many other conditions that are common amongst people with a busy and stressful lifestyle.

We mainly use Ayurvedic herbal oils that easily support and balance Vata and open the prana channels to calm and nourish the nervous system. We also use herbal, milk, buttermilk decoctions and rose water too for Pitta and Kapha disorders.

You will benefit from a series of 7 consecutive treatments (45 minutes)
